• Ensure accuracy and completeness of cargo paperwork before departure.
• Inspect locomotive, before and after runs, in accordance with company and Federal Railroad Administration-required tests and checks; follow all local, state, and federal regulations in terms of safety.

• Operate turbine-electric or diesel-electric locomotives using air brakes and throttles; monitor meters and gauges for amperage, speed, air pressure, and battery charge.
