Inspection, surveying and materials testing of heavy highway construction projects. Verify and ensure that construction meets the quality and quantities required.

• Job duties include inspections and acceptance of capital improvement projects to ensure compliance with all applicable project documents including: plans, specifications, codes, scope, budget and schedule.
• The construction projects include work with a wide range of different City departments and agencies including Public Works Dept., CDOT, Waste Management Div., Transportation and Mobility, RTD, UDFCD, Forestry, Right of Way, Parks and Recreation, Art and Venues, and Mountain Parks.
• Daily coordinate and communicate with project managers on 5 projects, engineering design consultants and construction contractors while providing on-site problem solving and clarification as well as identifying potential concerns and pitfalls.
• These inspections also involve verification of materials and equipment utilized verification of design conformity, rejection of noncompliant work and payment modification or refusal.
• Provide paraprofessional field engineering, schedule coordination, project document and plan review, preparation of change orders/notices and field directives, safety compliance oversight, utility and consultant coordination, facilitation of contractor's pay applications, scheduling and oversight of quality control/assurance testing.

• Conduct inspections of engineering projects to insure compliance with all applicable project documents including: plans, specifications and codes.
• Projects include construction and repair of roads, bridges, ADA pedestrian walks, electrical systems, parks & major cast in place concrete structures.
• These inspections also involve verification of materials and equipment utilized verification of design conformity, rejection of noncompliant work and payment modification or refusal.
• Provide paraprofessional field engineering and on-site problem solving, direction and clarification.

• Performed on-site inspection and acceptance of county capital improvement projects, Urban Drainage and Flood Control projects, Right of Way permits and subdivision construction projects to insure compliance with plans, specifications and codes.
• Conducted project management activities including: review of proposed development plans and capital improvement design plans, reviewed contractor submittal packages, prepared change orders, reviewed and responded to contractor “Requests for Information” packages and prepared monthly pay applications.
• Typical projects included construction of ADA pedestrian routes, bridges, drainage structures, storm sewer systems, roadways and retaining walls.

• Inspected the daily work performed by civil and track work contractors including construction of: storm sewers, sanitary sewers, bridges, sub-grade, water lines, existing utility improvements and encasements, concrete box and “bulb T” girders, concrete retaining walls, curb and gutter, fences, M.S.E.
• Walls, continuous welded rail, rail switches and catenary pole foundations.
• Other duties include: schedule and supervise technicians performing quality control materials testing, interpret and enforce the contract documents, prepare daily construction reports, assist the design team with plan reviews, provide on-site direction and clarification, review submittals and assist the project manager with change order estimates and cost reviews.
• Review monthly pay applications by verification of material quantities, equipment and labor.
• I functioned as the agency field contact with contractors, consultants, utilities companies and municipalities.

• Duties included: preparing proposals, project billing, preparing environmental site assessments, monitoring well installation and sampling, radon mitigation system design and installation, conducting environmental subsurface investigations, Phase II characterizations and Phase III remediation.
• Projects included work on regional surface water drainage ways.
• 25% of time I performed field testing duties as an engineering technician.
• Conducted quality control and quality assurance testing on a variety of private and public projects.
• Projects included DIA construction, DOE UMTRA project, Bureau of Reclamation dams, Buckley Air National Guard Base ADF, Rocky Flats decommissioning and Colorado Springs Airport expansion.

• Performed field and laboratory materials test on local, state, federal government and commercial construction projects.
• Worked on drainage structure and drainage way projects as well as storm and sanitary sewer systems.
• Conducted footing excavation bearing capacity inspections.
• I assisted with subsurface investigations collecting, describing, and cataloging soil/rock samples.
• Projects included work on KDOT highways, Corps of Engineer sites, Richards Gabaur Air Force Base, Forbes Field, Whiteman Air Force Base, and commercial development sites.
