I am retired from Texas Farm Bureau Insurance Companies as a Senior Claims Representative. I was employed with them for approximately 30 years. I served in a permanent office at San Angelo, Texas as well as assisting other offices in time of need. These duties also involved working storm situations across the Southern United States. I was involved in various training courses throughout this time of employment.
Prior to this, I grew up on a farm around the Brownfield, Texas area. The farm consisted of raising cotton, maize and livestock. This is where I started a love of horses.
I attended college at South Plains College where I studied basics. It was here that. I was rodeo for the college.
While working for Farm Bureau, I became involved with Fort Concho Cavalry. It was here that I developed a keen interest in Military History. The primary interest was the use of the horse in western history and as well as Biblical History. I dedicate 30 years to this involvement.
My love of horses started in my High School years. When I attended South Plains College, I rodeo in the calf roping and bulldogging. This continued through my tenure at Texas Tech University. This was the beginning of my interest in training performance horses. I was fortunate and blessed to own some horses that helped me to achieve my goals. The rodeo consisted from 1970 through 1980. When I graduated from college in 1977, I went back to full time farming and didn't rodeo as much but did some.
After I left the farm, I was later employed by Farm Bureau Insurance Companies. My office was in San Angelo, Texas. It was here I became involved with Fort Concho Cavalry. Fort Concho is a historic Indian wars fort at San Angelo, Texas. This was in 1991. It was then through today, that I have dedicated to training good cavalry horses.
This also peaked my interest in history, both military and Christian. Rather teaching about the horse in military history or teaching a bible study, I feel completely comfortable to convey the education necessary. Thorough these two subjects are separate, interestingly enough, they can be intertwined.
My research has led me to write on these and other subjects of interest. All of my bible studies are written by me from my research. All public speaking engagements require written presentation for me to perform. Writing is something I've always enjoyed.
I have done extensive studies on the King James Version of the Bible. It's a fascinating study of how this translation has come to be. Why it is supreme in it's command of the usage of the Hebrew, arabic and Greek languages. Though different from modern translation, it position as the most revered translation is amazing. I have done studies on how this translation came to be, how it translates word in a different means than other modern translations. Its use of all available means at hand is one of the main reason why it has been held as the most beloved book of all history.
It is truly an amazing Book!
Though I don't train cow dogs any longer, I did for around 10 years.
My stud dog, Windsong's Raisin Cain achieved the highest level of stockdog trials status. He was also a conformation champion. At one time, he was the most decorated trial dog in America. He was one of the many trial dogs I trialed throughout my career with the Australian Shepherd breed.
I was a stockdog judge for many years. I traveled throughout the nation due to this position.
I was later elected to sit on the National Board of Directors. In addition to that, I sat on numerous local and state boards. I was instrumental in forming the Cowboy Classic Stockdog Trials held in Brownfield, Texas in the 80's.
