Dynamic Spanish educator with over 20 years of experience, including impactful roles at Monarch School and Rocky Mountain Academy. Expert in curriculum development and fostering student engagement, I excel in building rapport and adapting teaching strategies. Passionate about integrating sign language into lessons, I create an inclusive learning environment that enhances language acquisition.
* Actually started with Patrick McKenna's son to help to make sure he passed his Spanish course at the high school. From there, more opportunities presented themselves and Elinor and I have been pretty much teaching Spanish in the afternoons for the past 12 to 14 years.
* We started to insist upon learning sign language with Spanish about 8 years ago.
* Started teaching as a substitute on Fridays and later on every other Tuesday as Monarch had a very flexible schedule. Being certified the pay was much better too.
* I currently work at LPOSD four days a week and then come home in the afternoon to teach private Spanish classes.
* Taught levels 1 through AP Spanish. The AP level in particular required rigorous planning and choosing materials to present to the students.
* Monarch School is where I began to implement sign-language into the Spanish courses, but only lightly.
* I also taught journalism and sign language at Monarch.
* The Monarch School founder, Patrick McKenna loved the Waldorf philosophy and we did some (nice) workshops with Waldorf representatives.
