As a lab Technician I am proficient in all aspects of eyeglass production. I am proficient in lens layout, blocking lenses for generating of Rx into the backside of the lens, setting up the cylinder machine to polish lens, I am an expert in verifying the Rx making sure the Rx matches what was ordered, ensuring that there are no surface defects, or anything that would fail the lens I am very able in the layout of the Rx and lens for blocking to edge for frame insertion. I am well versed in adding any coatings, tint, or prep the lens for anti reflective coating. The final step is the QA. This is most important, i verify that all aspects of the eyeglasses are within Ansi Standards, and are entirely as the doctor ordered.
As an optometric assistant I was responsible for keeping the doctor on schedule, I also did all pre-testing, auto-refraction, tonometry (NCT and Goldmann applanation), eyeglass and contact lens assessment, refraction, Contact lens over-refraction, contact lens fit checks, setting up various visual fields tests, dilation for fundus exam by the doctor, corneal topography, assessment of APD, EOM, stereopsis, Ishihara and amsler grid testing, ordering trial meds, and ordering trial re-wetting drops.
