  • I manually performed direct coombs test, weak D, fetal screen, elution, cold panel, antigen typing, saline replacement, prewarm, emergency release of blood products and transfusion reaction workup
  • I thawed fresh frozen plasma, cryoprecipitate
  • I ordered platelets and performed immediate spin and full cross matches accordingly on PRBCs and allocated the unit (s) to the appropriate patient while paying close attention to the attributes and/or antibodies the patient may possess
  • I ran reagent and equipment QC
  • I've helped improve the SOPM by suggesting a few modifications
  • For example, I suggested that the doctor be made aware of the dangerous implications of transfusing a doe patient and be made to sign a form that outlines those risks
  • I've also recommended performing a full cross match for doe patients even if the antibody screen was negative since we do not have their full medical history
  • I worked closely with the Blood Bank Lead to evenly distribute daily tasks as well as to ensure all work was flowing smoothly and any problems were promptly tackled
  • I was handpicked by the Blood Bank supervisor to be her lead but due to the long commute and my ongoing master’s practicum at the time I had to unfortunately decline
  • Microbiology:
