I was the youngest research Intern, my peers were all college graduates and pre-med students. This 3 months of research directly under the mentorship of the pancreaticobiliary/MIS surgeons had been my life steepest learning phase, resulting in a maturation in my thought process and development of appreciation of STEMs contribution to medicine and humanity at large.

Research Topic

A Prospectively Analysis of the Outcomes of Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy and Robotic Pancreatectomy for Locally Advanced Pancreatic Cancer Patients

Research Skills acquired:

• Developed greater insight into human digestive physiology and pathology
• Assimilate clinical information and organize data collected in systematic matter.
• Verified accuracy and validity of data entered in databases to correct errors.
• Managed, prepared and manipulated extensive databases.
• Assisted with preparing project-related reports, graphs, presentations and manuscripts.
• Gained knowledge in utilization of software to perform descriptive and multivariate statistical analysis of data.
• Edited videos of Whipple's procedure and distal pancreaticosplenectomy for submission for technical review. (videos available on request)
• Presented data at summer research banquet to physicians, care providers, researchers, and administrators. (recording and presentation available on request)

• Collaborated with students to complete homework assignments, identify lagging skills and correct weaknesses.
• Planned lessons for allotted time to strengthen weak subjects and build skills.
• Developed student confidence through positive reinforcement strategies.
• Motivated students towards learning and studying to build self-confidence and reduce fear of failure.
• Taught students remotely using online video chat platform and other delivery channels.
• Met with parents to discuss student progress and address concerns.
