Riya Charora

I currently volunteer and shadow at Pre-Health Shadowing. I am able to meet with health care professionals from various domains and specialties to get an inside look at their education and career paths. I am also able to gain volunteer hours from a remote location so I can learn more about and contribute to the field while begin able to finish my undergraduate degree.

• There is a wide variety of areas where RCH volunteers can help improve the quality of health care the hospital provides. Among the services provided, I volunteer in the ER, Cancer Center, and NICU - where I am also currently training to be a cuddler.

• An organization at the university I currently attend, UCR, provides workshops on patient interaction and opportunities to volunteer at the City of Hope hospital.

• At Mathnasium, I tutor students ranging from grades first grade to eleventh grade. I went through a training period to learn the different teaching/learning style of each student so I could be flexible teaching many different types of learners. I have attended to students with many different behaviors and have had to cope with them to put them back on task while also explaining a concept they may be confused with.

• In the 2021-2022 school year, I am tutoring students of various grade levels in Trigonometry, Algebra II, and Pre-Calculus every weekend.

• Helped broadcast what and how Beeznests can help students with overcoming challenges and gaining new skills.
• Learned how to connect with other small organizations to help with promotions.
