  • There are numerous perks to working with the Office of Community Schools which is a branched division of the Department of Education in New York.


  • We applied and through an interview and academic assessment we were chosen to sit in selected seats and discuss problems and come up with solutions for New York public schools across the five boroughs.


  • This was considered a job as receiving said stipends at the end was a bonus for the hard work and due diligence of the seated members of the council.


  • Being the 'Lead Facilitator' required a great deal of discipline and maturity.


  • I was elected to be the Lead Facilitator by the overseers through a discussion over what the best next move would be for our council before the year ends.


  • We went on to present in front of a vast majority of the Department of Education members so that they can relate our views to their leaders.


  • I take pride in saying this was my job over my school year, during this time, because it was one of the most enlightening experiences I've ever had.


  • We enacted change and I showed how I could overall be a part of a team.

  • Company Overview: The Elks Lodge 3250 Richmond Ave


  • Counselors were required to know how to swim when taking our assigned grade level to pools all summer long.


  • Similarly to a lifeguard, two counselors would take turns (one being inside of the pool swimming with the kids and the other watching over to ensure safety).


  • As a Camp Counselor, you are the head counselor for your assigned grade level and are also charged with informing and educating Junior Camp Counselors on how to properly go about ensuring kids' safety and the overall camp atmosphere.


  • So along with my other responsibilities, I showed the characteristics of a leader to the Camp Director, etc.


  • Money management, discipline, maturity, and overall cognizance of our responsibilities to the children, the camp, but also to ourselves as Camp Counselors.


  • Ensured smooth transitions between activities by efficiently managing time and resources throughout each day.


  • Participated in regular staff meetings to discuss strategies for improvement in areas such as programming, behavior management, and staff training.
