Commercial HVAC Service Technician

Eckhardt and Johnson Mechanical Contractors
07.2006 - 11.2011
  • Oil, Gas, hybrid, strictly commercial heat service, repair, and maintain clients' HVAC systems from the boiler to the furthest ERU's HW fan coil, and everything in between.
  • I was responsible for maintaining, servicing, and repairing most of the Natural, LP Gas, and #2 Oil commercial heating accounts.
  • Gained through courses and persistence, and a great service manager, a safe and professional, confident, and respectful understanding of specialized commercial HVAC equipment.
  • Increased responsibilities because of the more technically advanced and costly types of equipment and the parts that make them operate properly.
  • Pinkerton Academy, Hopkinton School District, Newmarket High School, Pelham Elementary, Goffstown School District, Manchester Catholic Diocese (Cleaver Brooks). If it had a gas or oil power burner and or a primary-secondary piping, anything steam low and high pressure, single and two pipe, and condensate receiver pumps and tanks. I was also able to have a couple of apprentices work with me. I also obtained my NH Gasfitter's license in 2008 while
  • Installed new equipment and explained operation and routine maintenance protocols to customers.
  • Explained diagnostic findings to customers and outlined repair or service options.

Oil Burner Technician

Stafford Oil Company
10.2004 - 07.2006
  • Was hired in a small team at an oil company, which at the time wanted to do the impossible; to make a net profit out of the service department at an oil company.
  • Took an interest in commercial boilers and steam heating systems, which would become a passion of mine.
  • Educated clients on the benefits of regular maintenance plans for long-term system performance improvement.
  • Enhanced customer satisfaction with timely repairs and preventative maintenance measures.
  • Ensured safety compliance by conducting thorough inspections of oil burner systems and associated components.
  • Improved system efficiency by performing routine maintenance on oil burners and related equipment.
  • Used some of the techniques I was implementing to reduce callbacks and help the service manager show the rest of the team why service calls tackled with the same approach consistently have a way of reducing through muscle memory, a technician's odds of having to go back because one thing wasn't checked by mistake.

Service Technician

Dead River Company
08.1998 - 07.2004
  • I started as an almost green Oil Heat Service Tech, almost green because my father was a Master Plumber. I learned a tremendous amount of basic knowledge and a good understanding of how different heating systems function. I also had to keep good records of the work performed, maintain a stocked company van, locate and order replacement parts, as well as on call duties. I was also very honored to train/ ride along with my first new hire. I did enjoy sharing the knowledge that I was given in a similar context; I didn't teach him anything new. What I did show him was what had been working for me. Approaching each call the same, repeating myself, performing the same tasks in a specific order, with the same tools (get a feel for the tool and use it faithfully). This kept me consistently with the lowest callback percentages.
  • 2001 Completed the requirements for the EPA's 608 certification or Technician, Type Universal certification.
  • Diagnosed and troubleshot problems, repairing, and restoring machines to peak performance.
  • Trained junior technicians in proper techniques and safety protocols, fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
  • Maintained detailed records of service calls, enabling better tracking of recurring issues and proactive solutions implementation.
