Duties: Manages, supervises, trains, and evaluates maintenance operations, facility operations, allied shop personnel, and GSA vehicles operations in the proper procedures to perform safe and efficient maintenance assignments located at the Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF) in Grand Island, NE. Supervises 12 full time federal employees who perform maintenance and repair and operate facility systems. Responsible for management and coordination of routine maintenance and various other inspections and assignments. Responsible and accountable for maintaining and inventorying over $194 million worth of aircraft, parts, tools, shop equipment, and test equipment. Engages in activities related to the management and/or the administration of the service and performs managerial work related to facilities operations and maintenance. Performs technical work involving managing, administering, and operating services and programs related to providing a safe environment. Preparing individual development records, along with training syllabus with projected units of training required. Evaluating the performance of maintenance personnel to insure that established standards of maintenance proficiency are maintained through evaluation or observation. Recommends improvements in maintenance procedures. Determines how many assignments can be accomplished concurrently, which ones must be delayed, and the number and types of employees required, considering skills, personnel materials, and equipment available/mandated. Provides production control a forecast of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance requirements to facilitate fleet management. Selected workers and assigned tasks to be performed. Explained work requirements, methods, and procedures. Instructed subordinates in new procedures and provided advice when problems arose. Assessed work in progress or completed assigned work orders. Investigated work related issues (e.g., low productivity) and identified causes; implemented corrective actions that could be taken within the limits of incumbent’s authority. Counseled employees on performance, and conducted formal and informal performance appraisals. Initiated proposals for formal disciplinary action when appropriate. Identified employee training requirements and initiated recommendations to accomplish necessary training. Scheduled and approved leave of subordinates. Promoted participation of employees in the Suggestion and Incentive Awards Programs. Participated in weekly Production Control meetings and provided information to the Production Control Officer on current and scheduled maintenance being performed. Contracting Officers Representative (COR) for the LUH-72 Lakota program at AASF in Grand Island, NE. Provides technical direction, clarification and guidance on the contract that the LUH-72 Lakota program is managed by. Responsible for managing and supervising Ground Support Shop, Structural Repair Shop, Refueling Shop, Powertrain Repair Shop, Powerplant Shop, Electrical Shop, Pneudraulics Shop, Avionics Shop and GSA vehicles.
