  • Work collaboratively with nurse managers, providers, and ancillary departments to maximize the safety and efficiency of patient care.
  • The role includes being in charge of all scheduled shifts. Responsibilities include balancing staff assignments with skill levels, continuous rounding, working to ensure that patients are placed in the appropriate areas, and ensuring that staffing skills and expertise are assigned to high acuity/trauma.
  • Work collaboratively with Bed-Flow facilitator ACCs, CNCs, and the Hospitalist service in order to prioritize evaluation for those admissions with higher acuity and pressing needs.
  • Collaborate with ICU CNC and intensivists to alert potential admissions in the ED for early awareness, so ICU can manage staff appropriately to ensure patients are admitted efficiently.
  • Troubleshooting issues, managing conflicts, and patient-related issues while mitigating potential problems and outcomes.
  • Reallocate resources to areas throughout the ED as needed, while being aware of nurse/patient load and acuity, and being mindful of resources and fiscal responsibility.
  • Receive, investigate, and follow up on STARRS reports, and aid the management team with assorted other work and tasks as needed.
  • Complete purposeful leadership patient rounding to proactively speak with patients and discuss their perceptions and feelings on their ED visit.

  • Additionally, work was done to relocate/allocate Mid-level providers into a 'provider first' model to decrease door to provider time which leads to more time efficient care initiation, improve efficiency, improved outcomes and staff-patient satisfaction
  • During this project, I also helped modify existing and write new, improved ED operational guidelines
