I achieved Toastmasters International's highest award: Distinguished Toastmaster in 2019. Over 50 speeches and numerous leadership positions were required and completed in four years, well below the average of 8-10 years.
I have written two books, an aviation memoir and a Vietnam War novel. In addition, I have written a well-regarded movie script.
Speaking to sell and promote my books has provided a far-ranging sample of audience types. I have addressed groups of as many as 300 and as few as 30.
In the past four years, I have been honored to be the keynote speaker at five memorial events during Veterans Day and Memorial Day.
I volunteer at the Alzheimer's Support Network as a storyteller and speaker.
Last summer, my aviation memoir book, Up in the Air, a Pilot's Journey, was featured at the largest airshow in North America, selected from hundreds of entries. I was invited to sign books and speak at the event.
I served in the US Army as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam and subsequently flew for almost fifty years as a commercial pilot.
