Willocks is a Small Family operated Cinder block production plant in Maryville TN.The Plant consist of two horizontal press lines devided by a center wall. The press fill racks with block which are then carried by automated trains to kilns,The train then picks up cured product which feed a palletizing machine. The plant has went without a true maintenance team for at least 30 years.
As maintenance supervisor my job was to assess key components in their production lines that where failing or causing Production issues while doing whatever was nessicary to continue production.
In my short time here I've completely replaced one 30t silo,Changed all clam shells and rebuilt the tail end of a 200' feed belt.I over saw the removal and replacement of a 5t Industrial mixer, while exspanding the actual structure. These are just a couple of the larger jobs on site.
The plant is run off at most 10 employees so it was very important that the production team was trained to also work on the machines. The majority of the mechanical work involved replacing gearboxes, shafts, bearings and other parts that had worn overtime
As a Foreman at Cherokee millwright My job was to lead a team of skilled tradesman in Numerous industrial task while following OSHA standards in safety. The standard job was to Recieve new machines off the truck by utilizing a Versa forklift, rigging and spotters.Using skates or forklift to transport the machine threw the facility, then installing and precision leveling at the desired destination via engineer.when we weren't installing machines we where working side by side with maintenance during shutdowns or installing piping systems at local plants.
My larger accomplishments with Cherokee involved:
Leading the installation of The Elmer's Glue product line at Newell Rubbermaid, which involved four production lines fed by over four thousand feet of stainless pipe all being fed by a ten tank farm.
Leading the installation of eight 40t excrutors also at Newell Rubbermaid with a two week window a piece. This involved installing the machines,Building chillwater manifolds and fabricating all adaptors to accommodate the hoppers that held their plastic pellet materials.
As a young man I held numerous different positions.I spent 3 years operating their palletizing machine before being transfered to their loading yard.On the yard my job was to utilize a very large forklift (12 forked linde) to stack product coming out of the plant while loading our deliver trucks.I then spent 3 years providing maintenance to the plant before going to school for welding
