I look forward to breaking into my next role with your company and substantiating all the claims mentioned in this resume.
Ben was one of my preceptors when I was on rotation during fourth year of my PharmD degree. We became good friends. Since he was so impressed with my work ethic and had my faith to "hold down the fort", when his wife and him would go out of town to visit either his family or his new in-laws with their two baby children, I was the Pharmacist responsible for opening the doors at 9 AM and keeping the ship running smoothly.
As a young Regional Pharmacy Manager, at the age of 27, I oversaw and supervised ~20 pharmacies in the Western Slope off I-70, Southern Colorado, and the northern part of New Mexico.
Concurrently with this position, I also had my own side-gig. Throughout the school I put up piece of paper advertisements with vertical printing at the bottom that had my name, number, and Chemistry tutor so you could rip off a piece and keep it in your pocket to dial me later. I would charge by the hour for one-on-one individual private appointments outside the hours of SARC in a student room in the library. This individualized attention would really help me learn how they learn, and adapt my teaching style accordingly. I also did private pre-test reviews, where I would utilize a large lecture room on Campus and go over "important concepts that need to be known prior to walking into your test tomorrow" (as I called it). These events were highly profitable for me and would last about 4-6 hours.
4 year Degree consisting of first three years: Disease state pathology/treatment of these diseases with medications, mechanism of action of those medications along with an emphasis on pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, etc.
Pertinent information as it relates to pharmacogenomics, drug-drug interactions, and also non-drug therapies to assist in disease/symptom management was also taught.
The last year of our education consisted of rotations where we were stationed at a location around Colorado and worked as an intern there for 6 weeks at a time. I got some hands on experience at Kaiser's Weight Loss Clinic (where patients are evaluated for a "gastric sleeve" procedure) and a tablet of Metformin becomes too big for their stomachs to handle; lots of medications eventually need adjustment. Other notable experiences was the community pharmacy in Limon where I met Ben, a great smart preceptor, and Porter Hospital where I worked at their Warfarin clinic to adjust warfarin dosage based on INR and ascertain why their levels became so non-therapeutic, was it compliance or a drug-FOOD (Vitamin K) interaction?
After an inspiring lecture from my Organic 1 professor the summer of my freshman year, I dedicated and committed myself to studying like an athlete. This was evidenced by my GPA turnaround where I received nothing but straight A's for the rest of my years at UCF. I would continuously set the curve on exams but the other students couldnt help but love me.
An accomplishment I'm very proud of at this school was when my Organic Chemistry 2 professor, the same man who recommended me for SARC, Dr. Seth Elsheimer. When he went on vacation, he asked me to teach the lecture he had planned for his Organic Chemistry 2 class. It was a blast, in front of 70 or 80 of people whose shows i was in literally a year ago was quite the feeling. I got to field sincere questions, and took delight in shutting down hagglers trying to make me fumble or slip. It wasn't long after dealing with the hagglers I had won the respect of the room and had a terrific lesson.
