Dedicated student in Animal Science with hands-on experience in veterinary assistance and good customer service skills that actually test my patience. Proven ability to manage time effectively while supporting diverse communities through volunteer work and working a job at the same time.
I am a student majoring in Animal Science/Pre-Vet, and I am currently a first-year undergraduate with experience working with animals firsthand. This includes working with a vet, Dr. Mark Peters assisting in neutering and doing check ups on cats and dogs.
I attended Creighton Preparatory High School in Omaha, Nebraska. There I was in the club Operation Others, which is helping the financially overwhelmed in the area, like handing out turkeys around Thanksgiving. I also joined the Zoology club and spent my time cleaning and taking care of birds, reptiles, and fish.
I am planning to study abroad in New Zealand next year for my Animal Science program, where I will spend time learning not just about animals, but also about the environment.
I work at Tasty Pizza when I am on break, and during the summer. I am a cashier, pizza maker, and stocker. I have been working there for almost two years, and I have been able to handle the stress of a rush. I worked there while in school on weekdays, and made it work. I have put a lot of dedication into it, even if it is a cashier job, because I have made connections with people who can help me in the future.
I volunteered at the Center for People Administration, a food pantry for people who are financially struggling. I did small jobs, like bringing fresh food from the back to stock shelves, sweeping, and cleaning the produce section. I spent a lot of time helping customers at the shelves pick out the items that would be best for them. I got to talk to a lot of the customers, and I heard their stories and lessons. I did about 20 hours of volunteering there before the semester ended.
I worked at Ambassador Health of Omaha, a retirement home. I volunteered there for a whole semester, playing cards with the residents and just talking to the ones who need it the most. There were many events we hosted, like bringing a friend to bingo night, which we ended up bringing half a class. We played a different card game every day, but the residents loved to play certain ones and loved to learn more about our future and Creighton Preparatory High School itself.
My experiences show through me and have shaped me to be the person I am now. I am very thankful for them for teaching me how to be patient, keep a good time management, thinking about others while working on myself, and creating stronger bonds with the people I trust most.
