I did not start Law School until I was 31 years old because I had just spent 10 years on active duty in the United States Navy. My job after passing the Arkansas Bar exam the first time was as a deputy prosecuting attorney in Crawford and Sebastian counties in 1994.
In 2002, I was given the opportunity to work for Prosecuting Attorney Michael Medlock for a short period. Shortly thereafter, he was elected as a Crawford County Circuit Judge. Marc McCune became the elected Prosecuting in Crawford County in 2001 and he appointed me as his Chief Deputy. I served as the Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney until July 1, 2019 when Governor Asa Hutchinson appointed Mr. Mccune to a circuit court judge position and appointed me as the head prosecutor. I served as head prosecutor until December 2020. While serving as a deputy prosecuting attorney and Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney, I also served as an active US Navy reservist. I finally retired from the US Navy in 2008 as a NDCS, Navy Diver Senior Chief with almost 30 years of military service.
I have only ever been a prosecutor and that's all I ever wanted to be. The reason I am running to be the next Crawford County Prosecuting Attorney is because of my deep commitment to the citizens of Crawford County and our amazing law enforcement officers in Crawford County. I will continue to protect the citizens of our county while mentoring and training the talented young deputy prosecuting attorneys who work in the Crawford County Prosecuting Attorneys Office. I will continue to lead from the front and personally handle the most difficult cases. During my eighteen month appointment as head prosecutor, the pandemic has just started and my office was only able to try one jury trial. It was a rape case and the victims were children. I assigned that case to myself and was able to secure a guilty verdict and a 60 year sentence in the Arkansas Department of Corrections from the jury.

My Grandmother Virginia L Jones/Brown outlived my grandfather, a second husband and a boyfriend, she lived and died in a home in Van Buren, Arkansas up behind Butterfield elementary school. When I was a law student I would go to my grandmothers house and watch wheel of fortune with her. She loved that show. My grandmother, Aunt Martha Chapman (who still lives in Alma, Crawford County, Arkansas), my Aunt Mary and my mother would quilt at my Aunt Martha's house in Alma once a week. My Uncle Larry Chapman (who was a father figure to me) and his family were also life long Crawford County residents. My Uncle Larry's father worked for Arkhola sand and gravel in Crawford County and was responsible for the "three wise men" Christmas lights that were put up on the Crawford County side of the Arkansas River every Christmas season, which many may remember, up until his death. My Uncle Larry who also served in the United States Navy, died of cancer and is Buried in Crawford County. My grandfather served as a gunner's mate in the United States Navy in World War II, He and my grandmother are both buried next to each other at the National Cemetery in Fort Smith.
