  • Set up Leadwell vertical 4 axis mill. Using some programs that were previously written. Changed tooling and holders for clearance as needed.
  • Edited programs including spindle speeds, feed rate, cutter compensation, tool #, x , y, and z origin (G54 work offset). Copy and Pasted programs to expedite the editing for what the part needed.
  • Set fixture plate and indicated parallels against pins as well as indicated vice. To ensure parallelism and perpendicularity. Also used gauge pins to measure and set position of holes. Used thread gauges, height gauges, calipers and micrometers to achieve proper dimensions within tens of thousandths.
  • Used proper clamps to hold down fixture plate, as well as work. Also machined 6" soft jaws from aluminum or whatever was needed.
  • Used programming software and slowly learning Mastercam for modeling, mostly wireframing which allowed tool paths to be generated. Used solid modeling for extrusions, pockets, and bosses.
  • Used 4th axis or B axis to rotate work. Used 5c lath collets and collet stops. Milled, drilled, and tapped holes on the 4th axis.

  • Set and operated Hardinge Lathe. Set and operated Bridgeport mill. Made glue gun parts in Hardinge from Hex brass stock. Drilled, turned, chamfered, tapped , then cut off to correct length. Then turned around to finish.
  • Operated Mori Seiki CNC mill with Yasnac controls.
  • Drilled and Bored control arms on engine lathe.
  • Turned OD and ID of bushings. Then faced to length. Precision work +.002 -.000.

My experience is through work and learned at work. Mastercam I am learning on my own. Hard work and positive results. I can get my B.S. if I choose to, but I find this career a rewarding one. I have forklift cerification and Id like to get a Mastercam certification.
