Fleet & Facilities Division Director

  • As the Fleet & Facilities Division Director I am responsible for repair, maintenance and construction of all owned and leased City buildings, facilities and parks as well as acting as the Project Manager for Leisure Services Department projects. I am also responsible for purchase, repair and maintenance of all City vehicles and small equipment. Duties include personnel management, budgeting, capital plans, planning, CMMS management and oversight of all disciplines in respect to the Fleet and Facilities Maintenance Divisions and the Cities Asset Management Program. This is accomplished through three direct report managers. Indirect reports include eight administration staff, eight fleet vehicle technicians, six trades technicians and twelve custodians. We maintain over 100 buildings and structures totaling over 500,000 SF under our care. We also have over 600 vehicles and several hundred pieces of equipment in the Fleet portfolio. I oversee operating budgets of more than $4.9 million and Capital Projects of approximately $17 million this year. I was a key member in the design, construction and opening for the complete re-development of the City’s Westmonte Park which included; offices, large meeting spaces, indoor and outdoor pools, sports courts, playgrounds and maintenance buildings.

  • I started as an HVAC Technician, moved to Technical Coordinator for the sitewide Utilities Department before becoming a Planned Work Supervisor. As the Technical Coordinator I managed the Asset Management, CMMS and scheduled work for the teams, handled repair projects, continuing services contracts and kept the Utilities Department Capital Plan updated. As a Planned Work Supervisor I was responsible for project management of Capital and Expense projects. This included scope/budget development, funding approval, requests for proposals, contracting vendors, contractor oversight, field management to ensure projects were on time and within budget as well as project closeout. I worked all facets of facilities and ride related projects but I was the primary PM for utilities and mechanical projects including central energy plant, transformers, chillers, cooling towers, generators, boilers and HVAC equipment. I remained as a part time employee until summer of 2007 completing projects and writing additional SOW packages as the need arose.
