• In my capacity as a healthcare professional within a maximum-security state facility, I provide care for approximately sixty juvenile residents. This number varies due to fluctuations in population resulting from their transition to state penitentiaries. These residents have been either convicted or are currently undergoing conviction for adult crimes; therefore, their safety and security constitute my utmost priority. I uphold this commitment through compliance with the American Correctional Association (ACA) standards, alongside strict adherence to established policies and procedures. Key responsibilities in my role include medication administration, psychiatric and behavioral management, and clinical oversight. During medication administration periods and throughout the day, I dispense psychiatric medications, conduct wound care, and perform comprehensive head-to-toe assessments upon both admission and after critical incidents. I am also tasked with managing electronic health record documentation while ensuring compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations and pertinent laws. Additionally, my position necessitates the maintenance of monthly statistics, including discharge summaries, admission summaries, final treatment plan summaries, employee injury logs, and juvenile injury logs. These records are compiled monthly and submitted to the nursing manager at the conclusion of each month. I have been assigned a segment of the Leadership Academy to ensure newly hired employees possess the pertinent knowledge regarding the operations of the medical department and our operational procedures. I also instruct these new employees on reporting injuries and illnesses. Furthermore, I oversee employee health records and manage their annual physical examinations, including a comprehensive set of vital signs, urinalysis (UA), tuberculosis (TB) testing, and updating employee medication records. I also ensure that updates to employee hepatitis B vaccination records are conducted effectively. Moreover, I closely collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to guarantee that each resident receives comprehensive care tailored to their individual needs.

• As a licensed practical nurse (LPN) on the floor, I was responsible for the care of 4 to 6 critically ill patients, primarily those on intravenous drips and ventilators. I received orders from physicians and administered required medication and comfort rounds.
• Working 12-hour shifts from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., I employed all of my nursing proficiencies, including, but not limited to, tracheostomy care, catheterization, intravenous insertion, nasogastric tube placement, monitoring blood transfusions, and obtaining and processing laboratory specimens. Additionally, I applied my housekeeping abilities by ensuring a safe, organized, and clean environment for my patients, their families, and the staff.

• Caring for a 20-year-old female patient with Cerebral Palsy who had both Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and Shaken Baby Syndrome involved numerous responsibilities. Duties included but were not limited to the complete administration of feedings and medications twice daily via peg-tube and the implementation of range-of-motion (ROM) physical therapy, showering, and diaper changes every one to two hours.
• This engagement is associated with the 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. shift. Proper charting was conducted as needed. The patient’s parents expressed a desire to change home health care providers while wanting me to remain their child’s primary nurse, leading to my transition from Shelby Homecare to Aveanna Home Health.Throughout this transition, I acquired extensive training in tracheostomy care and ventilation management.

• Coordinated nursing care within the unit through staff assignments, assisting and collaborating with physicians, monitoring patient orders, and facilitating communication with ancillary departments.
• Supervised and managed daily scheduling, task assignments, and administrative duties.

• I transitioned from a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and Charge Nurse, obtaining a full-time position that required me to rotate between three halls.

• Through this, collecting patient data, all vital signs, EKGs, and pertinent information for the visit, and routinely updating patient charts and medical records.
• Weekly travel to and from ADA, OK, with one of the Cardiologists for distant patient care is also a responsibility of the office.
• Contact with multiple vendors for cardiac-related technology and medication is also kept in my daily routine, and I schedule maintenance.
