Summary

I am seeking a position as a Licensed Practical Nurse that presents challenges and necessitates further training. My professional background equips me for various roles. Throughout my esteemed career in law enforcement, from which I retired early, I have established a commendable reputation. I initiated my nursing journey as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Home Health Aide (HHA), and phlebotomist. By participating in the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program at Gordon Cooper Technology Center, I successfully completed the requisite 1,343 hours mandated by state and federal regulations, culminating in my successful passage of the Oklahoma Nursing Boards in August 2021. My aspiration to make a positive impact on the lives of others greatly enhances my motivation for pursuing this profession. I place a strong emphasis on maintaining a robust work ethic and effective time management, consistently striving for excellence in every assignment entrusted to me; this ambition drives my desire to exceed expectations. By delivering lectures and facilitating classes for my colleagues, alongside serving as a certified instructor accredited by CLEET in the State of Oklahoma, I have honed my interpersonal and communication skills, fostering a deeper sense of compassion and empathy. Over the years, I have diligently committed myself to developing and refining new listening techniques, not only for verbal communication but also by attuning myself to body language, behaviors, and speech patterns. My interactions with diverse populations have significantly broadened my perspective on the essential nature of nurturing and compassion in promoting the health and wellness of those in need. My professional experiences have notably accelerated my proficiency in performing triage, collecting intake information, and providing wound care in which I hold two professional certifications for. I am recognized as an effective communicator, characterized by an organized disposition, strong prioritization, and multitasking capabilities. I exemplify sound judgment, a compassionate demeanor, and an exceptional work ethic.

Work History

Licensed Practical Nurse

COJC
Tecumseh, OK
10.2022 - Current

• In my capacity as a healthcare professional within a maximum-security state facility, I provide care for approximately sixty juvenile residents. This number varies due to fluctuations in population resulting from their transition to state penitentiaries. These residents have been either convicted or are currently undergoing conviction for adult crimes; therefore, their safety and security constitute my utmost priority. I uphold this commitment through compliance with the American Correctional Association (ACA) standards, alongside strict adherence to established policies and procedures. Key responsibilities in my role include medication administration, psychiatric and behavioral management, and clinical oversight. During medication administration periods and throughout the day, I dispense psychiatric medications, conduct wound care, and perform comprehensive head-to-toe assessments upon both admission and after critical incidents. I am also tasked with managing electronic health record documentation while ensuring compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations and pertinent laws. Additionally, my position necessitates the maintenance of monthly statistics, including discharge summaries, admission summaries, final treatment plan summaries, employee injury logs, and juvenile injury logs. These records are compiled monthly and submitted to the nursing manager at the conclusion of each month. I have been assigned a segment of the Leadership Academy to ensure newly hired employees possess the pertinent knowledge regarding the operations of the medical department and our operational procedures. I also instruct these new employees on reporting injuries and illnesses. Furthermore, I oversee employee health records and manage their annual physical examinations, including a comprehensive set of vital signs, urinalysis (UA), tuberculosis (TB) testing, and updating employee medication records. I also ensure that updates to employee hepatitis B vaccination records are conducted effectively. Moreover, I closely collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to guarantee that each resident receives comprehensive care tailored to their individual needs.
