  • Experience in the Emergency department: I worked with my professional partner, a registered nurse to gain valuable clinical knowledge, experience, and work ethics.
  • Typical responsibility within the crash room was the Am rounds that entail the giving of report to the oncoming nurse, the building rapport with patients, making sure the vitals and assessment of each patient in a stable condition and have no signs of distress with airway, breathing and circulation.
  • Confirmed the safety and effectiveness of lifesaving supplies and equipment in the crash cart.
  • Conducted IV catheter insertion, medication administration, primed IV tubing, drew blood, and assisted patients with ambulation for restroom safety.
  • I was able to witness blood transfusion process with the verification process that took place between two registered nurses before administration to the patient and the use of the equipment that was used in the administration of the blood.
  • Experience on the Med-Sur Unit: I was able to encounter a few diseases such as gastrointestinal bleed due to ulcers, Diabetes mellitus, HIV and cirrhosis.
  • I learned the nurse's responsibility towards the care of the patient as well as the responsibility of the nurse to have accuracy with the removal of narcotics withdrawal from the automated recorded distribution machine.
  • I worked side by side with my professional partner administering medication, PEG tube feeding, vital signs and giving report to the doctor on patients.
  • Worked in step-down area of med-surg floor performing ostomy care, monitoring vital signs, conducting patient assessments, and delivering patient-centered care.
