I am a conscientious OR Nurse with a total of about 32 years of experience in healthcare. These years of experience in the OR has been centered around scrubbing and circulating. To most of my peers, I am exemplary, but personally, this is what sets me apart in the OR...focused and giving attention to details. These years of experience has broadened my scope of understanding of the OR giving me the ability to anticipate the needs of the OR team with a mindset of provision of quality care patients. Known for my professionalism and efficient communication skill by colleagues. I am highly educated in standards of care procedures and infection control.
I have worked in the OR for more than 35 years, with about 11 years in the USA 14 years in the UK. I have worked in various areas of the OR from obstetrics/ gynecology to general and finally orthopedics and trauma. This has given me a wealth of experience which I am glad to share with a prospective employer and my colleagues and in all, assisting in bringing quality practice and care to the patients. I have attended numerous study days, conferences and seminars in both elective and trauma orthopedics. I have Non Vocational Qualification (NVQ) and attended trainings and study days in leadership and management which puts me ahead in rendering quality care, good planning and time management in the OR and had been a team leader. More-so, I am an Advanced Scrub practitioner or RN First Assistant as well as having basic surgical skill training, meaning that I am comfortable to assist in surgery when required.
I am a preferred mentor to students and junior colleagues, I am a good role model and a motivator. I am a good listener and a good communicator. I know how to bring the best out of people in OR and I enjoy working in a team. I am a good leader when I am in position to team lead and I am a very good follower when being led by others. My hard work and dedication will contribute to quality care of patients. I act as role model to team members. I am supportive and motivating those I work with. I encourage the team to be innovative in ideas so that department's set objectives are realized.
