Research information as requested and/or needed; compile data; and write informational memos, letters, reports, forms, plans, documents, and queries using computer, spreadsheets, databases, or presentation software. Collaborate and participate on teams with HR and other stakeholders.
Managed a caseload of claims for 15 departments with The City of Austin account. Responsible for handling from inception to completion work related injuries. Determine an injured workers’ entitlement to Workers’ Compensation benefits. Administer indemnity and medical benefits for valid Workers’ Compensation claims. Assist Unit Manager with mentoring new claims examiner and/or supervisory functions. Maintain communication verbally and in writing with clients, injured workers and medical providers. Establish appropriate reserve levels based on financial exposure and update reserves upon receipt of new information. Properly and timely pay indemnity benefit payments and awards. Issue state-mandated benefit notices within the required timeframes. Respond to questions and requests from the client, injured workers and provider as needed. Maintain confidentiality of all corporate, client and research matters.

Entered electronic data interchange (EDI) on ClaimPort Online Reporter for multiple clients. Opened and distributed mail from the Division of Workers’ Compensation to our clients. Prepared billing for clients on Timeslips database. Requisitions for the firm and other duties as assigned.
