Clinical Rotations- Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Student

  • Cardiology Rotation at Polaris Heart and Vascular Clinic, Woodridge, VA, 08/22- 12/22, under the supervision of Dr. Berenji Kambeez FCCS, FSCAI, MD. Assess, diagnose, and develop treatment plans in collaboration with patients with chronic conditions, including coronary artery disease, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, angina, atrial fibrillation, ventricular arrhythmias, congestive heart failure, valvulopathies, peripheral vascular disease, and history of cerebrovascular accident. Assess, diagnose, and develop treatment plans for patients with acute conditions such as STEMI, ACS, and dysrhythmia in Sentara Hospital., Describe the general diagnostic evaluation and workup of patients with cardiovascular diseases. Explain ECHO, stress test, nuclear stress test, and CT angiogram findings to patients. Perform stress tests at the Polaris clinic. Read ECGs and discuss with preceptor regarding findings. See cardiology consults in Polaris clinic and Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center. Initiate diagnostic assessment; interpret diagnostic testing; refer or recommend treatment and follow-up. Rounds and discuss findings and plan with the preceptor. Document the patient’s findings and care plan in the electronic medical record, EPIC.

Evaluate and manage patients with complex cardiac arrhythmias. Participate in the interpretation of ECG and 24-hour Holter monitors.   • ICU Rotation at Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center, Woodbridge, Virginia, 01/23-05/23, under the supervision of Sosthene Ndomo, AGACNP-BC.
