RODOLFO BALAGTAS

I served as the Head Sponsor for the Class of 2023 for four years, during which our school achieved the highest number of graduates since its establishment. In addition to my teaching responsibilities in Earth and Space Science and Biology, I took on the role of counselor and program mentor for the senior class during a time when the high school did not have a designated counselor.

I also provided after-school academic support and served as the Lead Teacher for the Science Department across both middle and high school for four years. Professionally, I have actively engaged in continuous development by attending multiple national conferences through the National Science Teachers Association.

Additionally, I led the successful implementation of our school’s first-ever Science Fair and currently serve as a leader of the Lighthouse Action Team as part of the Leader in Me program, supporting schoolwide leadership development and student engagement.

I served as a 3rd–6th Grade Special Education Science Teacher, where I provided differentiated instruction to support diverse learning needs and ensure student success. During my time at the school, I embraced a wide range of responsibilities beyond the classroom, contributing wherever support was needed.

I supervised students during breakfast and lunch, ensuring a safe and structured environment, and managed daily dismissal procedures to maintain student safety and organization. I also assisted with clerical tasks in the front office, supporting school operations such as communication, organization of records, and coordination with staff.

I became a reliable point of contact for parents, consistently assisting with questions, concerns, and school-related needs, which helped strengthen family-school relationships. In addition, I provided after-school support, offering extended learning opportunities and additional assistance to students who needed extra help.

Overall, I took pride in being a flexible and dependable team member, contributing to both instructional success and the smooth day-to-day operations of the school.

In my previous school, I held key leadership roles as the Prefect of Discipline and Agriculture Coordinator, where I played an integral role in maintaining a positive and well-structured school environment. As Prefect of Discipline, I supported the implementation of school policies, monitored student behavior, and worked closely with staff and administration to promote accountability, respect, and a culture of responsibility among students.

In my role as Agriculture Coordinator, I led and organized school-based agricultural programs and coached students for various competitions. Through consistent guidance and hands-on preparation, our team participated in numerous agricultural events and achieved multiple awards, reflecting both student growth and my commitment to experiential learning.

Alongside these leadership responsibilities, I accumulated six years of experience teaching Chemistry and Biology. During this time, I developed and delivered engaging, standards-aligned lessons that encouraged critical thinking, inquiry-based learning, and a strong foundation in scientific concepts. I also incorporated practical activities and real-world applications to deepen student understanding and interest in science.

These combined experiences strengthened my leadership, organization, and communication skills, enabling me to effectively manage programs, collaborate with stakeholders, and support student success. I continue to apply these skills in my current role, contributing to both academic achievement and a positive school culture.
