I started working here in late August 2023. I was looking for a part-time job since at this time I was going to college in River Forest IL. I was trained in the food station where I had to have a headset throughout my shift so I could hear the orders as they were coming in. This helped me have the order out on time. I was trained for one day and the next day I was off on my own I didn't mind since I caught on quickly. I was also in charge of prepping for the next day. Around a month after being there, I wanted to help out at the beverage station. I trained myself by watching others doing drinks, there was no one really to train me since I work mornings and it gets pretty busy. Now I do a little of everything. I know how to manage a POS, cash people out both in the store and drive-thru, I know how to make food and drinks. This job has taught me how to advocate for myself more and deal with hard situations.
During my senior year of high school, I joined the National Honors Society. This gave me the opportunity to volunteer at Feed My Starving Children. Since I was 18 at the time I was sealing bags that contained dried vegetables, soy protein, and rice. We were all working in groups. The groups had to complete as many boxes as they could in order to become the "Winner". As the sealer my duty was to make sure the bags were filled right and then sealed correctly so that at the time it was put in the box the ingredients wouldn't go flying everywhere. Being able to volunteer here made me create new connection with students in the National Honors Society because we had to work as a team to be able to get out as many boxes as we could.
Currently that is it but I'm working on getting more licenses like a Real Estate and Insurance
