Correctional Officer/ Sergeant

  • I hired in as a correctional officer and returned the duties of correctional officer in 2020
  • I was an Officer in Charge from 2013 to 2016. The responsibilities of an Officer in Charge was assuming the responsibilities of Sergeant in their absence.
  • I was a sergeant for the years of 2016 to 2020. Duties of a Sergeant were, as listed but not limited to, over seeing my crews that overseen the daily care for over two hundred inmates housed at the Henderson County Criminal Justice Center.
    Multiple times I've led my teams into inmate pods to conduct contraband searches, to deal with unruly inmates, one riot, and any other issue(s) that involved the orderly running of the facility.
  • Other various duties, as a correctional officer, currently involves manning central control looking over all the area of the facility, in and out, monitoring cameras, operating gates for entrance and exit of secure areas of the facility and as well opening doors for entrance and exit of secure areas, working in booking that involved booking in,and releasing, people that had been arrested and charged for various types of criminal charges. I also released people from custody for different various reasons. Also, but not limited to, operating control towers overseeing the various daily functions involved with that of supervising inmates.
  • I have received multiple trainings such as Taser, OC spray, and G.L.O.V.E. training. I currently carry law enforcement spray and use a G.L.O.V.E. in needed cases and scenarios of those moments in the field that could possible interfere with the orderly running of the facility and the safety of all staff and inmates.
