Summary

I have served as a Charter School Principal since 2011 in New York City. As such, I have developed and implemented policies, programs, curriculum activities and budgets in a manner that promote the educational development of each student and the professional development of each staff member.

From 9/2011 through 7/2017, I served as the founding principal of a charter school which resulted in a 2017 National Blue Ribbon Award for the school.

  • Help to facilitate the 4 pillars of Transformative Education- Define- student centered learning experience, Adopt a holistic approach to Teaching and Learning, Transform Instructional Practices through Innovation and Creativity, and Build a nurturing community through a strategic Partnership among the stakeholders.
  • Provide professional development opportunities for faculty of 50 individuals, based on: needs assessments; sharing a vision of academic success for all students that will meet the school's annual academic objectives; sharing instructional techniques to retain student interest and maximize learning opportunities; and use of instructional technology.
  • Interact with students, parents, and staff throughout the day in a positive manner.
  • Coordinate special education/ENL students and teacher/teacher assistant schedules with the master schedule.
  • Evaluate student progress by means of maintaining up to date student data and meet with faculty to interpret data and next steps; alignment of school, and community resources to meet academic demands.
  • Maintain inter-school system communication and seek assistance from Network office staff to improve performance.
  • Comply with established lines of authority.
  • Ensure that the school program is compatible with the legal, financial, and organizational structure for the school system; define the responsibilities and accountability of staff members and share plans for interpreting the school program to the community.
  • Conduct formal and informal classroom observation and provide feedback.

  • Monitor and evaluate educational programs to maintain high-quality performance objectives and standards.
