As a skilled teacher, I excel at fostering a supportive learning environment and building strong connections with students, parents, and faculty. I tailor my teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and develop varied assessment approaches to promote effective learning.
This was the inaugural year of Monroe HS Music & Arts Conservatory. This was created so every student in their community of schools could have an opportunity to learn Music as well as other Art forms. My job as the band instructor was to teach kids band music at many different levels. I taught students from grades K-12, so I had students who have never played an instrument in their life, as well as kids who already knew how to play an instrument, and wanted to take a bigger step in their learning.
As an Enrichment Instructor, my job is to help students with their music after school. I am currently helping students of many musical groups after school in preparation for their concert. I help with the Mariachi program, Jazz class, woodwind lessons, as well as instrumental group sectionals such as Band and Orchestra. Additionally, I help wherever I am needed and take pride in looking after these students after school. This job has really opened my eyes to the next stage of my teaching and has been invaluable to my experience thus far.
In Fall 2023, I was placed at Monroe High School for my first semester of student teaching. I was required to teach one class, so I taught Advanced Band. Additionally, I also taught lessons with Marching Band, Beginning Band and Advanced Orchestra throughout the semester. In Spring 2024, I was placed at John Muir Middle School for my second semester of student teaching. I was required to teach two classes, so I taught Beginning Band and Concert Band. I also taught lessons and helped out with Advanced Band, Advanced Orchestra, and Beginning Strings. Throughout my entire student teaching experience, I learned how to manage multiple things as a director, improve my music pedagogy, and improve on classroom management.
