As 50 % owner/President of American Fence Company I do all general residential, commercial, industrial customer quotes, count/ keep track of inventory, communication with all accepted customers to schedule install dates, order all fencing materials for jobs, assure my 2 foreman have detailed knowledge of the jobs they will be running, actively engage in onsite supervision, float between multiple fence crews to assure jobs are completed in a timely manner.
I was the main railcrew foreman for N.E Ohio, Pennsylvania. My duties included:
- Generate daily unloading schedule based on train arrivals - Allocate employees to facilities to line up with skill sets and train arrivals - Allocate rail crew to cover for loader vacations - Allocate rail crew to work/assist in maintenance efforts - Manage release of trains through ShipCSX, ShipperConnect, etc.
- Manage hours of employees - Perform safety training to new employees - Directly supervise hourly rail employees (drive around to each unloading facility each day) - Verifies proper PPE is worn by all employees - Covers weekend rail calls with WLE - Manage EPA logbooks and reporting requirements - Audit facilities for housekeeping, OSHA, MSHA and company protocol - Training for rail crew on skid steers/front end wheel loaders.
I held this position for 5 years. The final year I started to assume superintendent responsibility’s when the main superintendent was absent. Superintendent duties involved leading Monday morning railcrew/safety tailgate calls, communication with director of operations/quarry superintendents to make sure the correct aggregate would be loaded for each site and be shipped east in a timely manner. Lead all interviews and hiring process with HR. First hand hire/terminate/discipline process with director of operations and HR. Manage all front end loader schedules/time off/extend yard hours. Experience leading 20+ men on multiple job sites across Oh, Pa, Wv.
I was responsible to run a mowing crew that consisted of myself and 1-2 laborers. I was directly in charge of driving truck/trailer around yo assigned jobs for the day, keeping track of drive times and clock crews in/out of jobs.
