Being a shift supervisor helped me to navigate my strengths and build on them through experience. It encouraged me to be professional, take initiative in the leadership role and focus on team collaboration. My leading strength being problem-solving and customer service led me to be a shift leader that my team always went to when in need of resolution. Having mastered every position quickly and efficiently it made managing daily operations much more straightforward. Adaptability to different personalities in the work environment from team members to customers made my experience as well as others around me effortless. I would say that it created a positive, fluid atmosphere for fast-paced environments; remaining calm under pressure established a trust within my team that every problem had a solution. I have always possessed strong organizational abilities which made keeping a clean and systematic workspace the only way to work efficiently. My main take-away from this position I held was creating a positive and communicative work environment for better results.
In my fulfillment specialist position I was highly adaptable and cross-trained. With time I developed a proven track record of enhancing warehouse efficiency and accuracy in task completion. After becoming proficient in almost every position through taking courses and actual experience, I was promoted to be a problem-solver. I was chosen for this role when I was practically doing this job as a lower level associate when other problem solvers were busy with other tasks. I loved the associates I worked with on shift and it made my job so much easier to be collaborative. My biggest take-away from this experience was adaptability and resourcefulness.
Being an eBay seller was my longest standing job and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I learned how to photograph items for sale, focusing on attention to detail, shipping logistics, customer service, competitive pricing and much more. Having to be self-motivated and realizing that how much you put in is how much you would receive made this experience a hands-on one. I would respond to customers on the daily and provide solutions for shipping concerns, product issues and details, and returns. This also boosted my strengths in having a systematic approach to organizing to be able to find products in need of shipment optimally. Working in the e-commerce space guided me into being more resourceful on my own terms without someone telling me to do so. Pursuing my bachelors' in Economics did not directly help with this job but the job did help with my course work; connecting real experience in business with how the economy works aided in my education tremendously. The more I listed, the more I sold which fueled me to continue to learn and optimize my selling potential. It encouraged tech-savviness and management skills. I have several take-aways from this, the standouts would be self-motivation and market fluency.
