  • Microbiology Section

C) Identifies organisms based on the biochemical test (manual), BBL and Vitek 2 results.

D) Standardizes BHI (Brain Heart Infusion) with the suspected organism and plants it to MHA (Mueller Hinton Agar) or MHB (Mueller Hinton Broth) for sensitivity testing.

E) Performs Gram's and AFB staining, TB culture, and India Ink Preparation.

F) Microscopic identification of organisms.

G) AFB report every quarter for PHO reporting census.

H) Accomplish Antibiogram report annually.

I) Machine used or handled: ESCO Biosafety Cabinet, Denver Weighing Equipment, Union Autoclave, BACT/ALERT and Vitek 2.

  • Hematology Section

A) Performs laboratory tests such as CBC (Complete Blood Count), platelet count, differential count and reticulocyte count manually or using machines.

B) Performs PT (Prothrombin Time) and PTT (Partial Thromboplastin Time) using Precil and Wondfo machine.

C) Prepares Peripheral Blood Smear for Pathologists.

D) Performs CTBT (Clotting Time & Bleeding Time), ESR (Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate).

E) Machines used or handled: MindRay BC-3000Plus Hematology Analyzer, MindRay BC-5000 Hematology Analyzer, Precil C2000-4, Wondfo.

  • Clinical Chemistry Section

A) Deals with the qualitative and quantitative analysis of blood, 24-hour urine, urine aliquot, CSF, plasma and other body fluids like pleural, peritoneal and ascitic fluid.

B) Performs tests like FBS, Total cholesterol, HDL, Triglyceride, Amylase, BUN, Creatinine, Alkaline Phosphatase, Electrolytes and other special tests.

C) Machines used or handled: Siemens DCA 2000+ Hemoglobin A1c analyzer, BioSystems BTS-310 Chemistry analyzer, BioSystems A15 Chemistry analyzer, BioSystems A25 Chemistry analyzer, EasyLyte Plus Electrolytes analyzer, Roche C111 Chemistry Analyzer.

  • Clinical Microscopy Section

A) Collects specimen and performs urinalysis and fecalysis.

B) Examines and identifies microscopic elements such parasites, cells and crystals found in urine and stool.

C) Performs seminal fluid analysis and evaluation.

D) Performs special tests like body fluid analysis and occult blood tests.

E) Performs pregnancy tests, urine MET and THC testing.

F) Machines used or handled: Siemens Clinitek 100.

  • Immunology and Serology Section

A) Performs blood screening for Donors and patients to five diagnostic sexually transmitted diseases tests such as HIV, HCV, HbsAg, Syphilis and Malaria.

B) Pre and Post counseling for patients that will undergo HIV screening.

C) Performs HIV Screening and assists confirmatory testing.

D) Performs Serology tests such as Trop-I, Thyroid Functions (FT3, FT4, TSH, T3, T4), PSA, Hepatitis Profile ( Anti-HCV, HbsAg, Anti-HAV, HBe, Anti-Hbc, Anti-Hbe).

E) Machines used or handled: Roche e411 Cobas Analyzer, Getain, I-chroma, Mini-Vidas.
