I am responsible for all patient care that comes through MT2 hospital. MT2 being currently treated as a referral based hospital- all patients from the peripheral and district hospitals are referred to MT2 for escalation of care and further management.
All cases are managed with evidence based approach and further management are discussed to all senior registrars and consultants depending on diagnoses.
If treatments are available in MT2, patient will be managed there and case consult over the phones with consultants for further management
If patient is unstable to move/transfer all care will be done in MT2 or have doctors escort patient to TTMH.
Main responsibilities
Consecutive discussions with consultants in all areas regarding further treatment and management of patients whether in the peripheral setting or MT2
Attending to emergencies at all times during the day and after hours- obstetrics emergencies, trauma or resuscitation.
Contribute clinical expertise to all patient care and provide guidance to junior doctors and interns
Verifies complex diagnoses and facilitate treatment plan for all patients in hospital whether the are inpatient or outpatient.
Responsible for all patient care including outpatient, inpatient, patient transfer and community care.
Responsible mainly Inpatient care and daily ward rounds and escalate care for those who need it to TTMH
Maternal Healthcare and high risk care and management of all pregnant mothers that are booked in MT2 and refer to TTMH high risk if needed
Assisted midwives in complicated and high risk deliveries in labour ward and all complicated maternal cases review and referral to High Risk Clinic in TTMH
Assisted and managed with emergency cases from SFESA at any and all times- phone consultations for on road emergencies with SFESA team
Writing medical reports, coroners reports and medical clearance and disability reports
After hours patient care and critical cases and patient escort to TTMH
On call with team in a rolled roster but always available to cover if after hours if needed of in any cases of emergencies, or called back to escort patient or take over on the call.
Phone consult with all District hospital medical officers regarding safe transport of cases and nurses discussing sick cases after hours if unable to reach their officers.
