Rose DeStefano

Summary

Working with and uplifting communities most impacted by systemic racism, Rose's breadth of experience across different sectors allows her to move complex systems towards equity. She now leads systems change initiatives in the Bronx organizing communities to heal and drive solutions. She also co-chairs Children’s Aid’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Advisory Council. In addition to her work at Children’s Aid, Rose volunteers for the Bronx Community Foundation overseeing their Food Insecurity portfolio.

Prior to this role, Rose led a citywide campaign working with small businesses to adopt high job quality practices and highlight the incredible ways small businesses power neighborhoods. Rose started her career as a social worker working nationally and internationally. Her GreenMBA provided a deep dive into social and environmental justice at the intersection of business.

She moved to NYC in 2015 and has not looked back, except to visit her grandma and family in California.

  • Directed the Best for NYC, a campaign launched in partnership with the NYC Mayor’s Office of Workforce Development, the NYC Economic Development Corporation, and B Lab, resulting in the participation of 1,400 small and medium-sized businesses and 50+ partner organizations across the five boroughs
  • Partnered with workforce development city agencies to embed job quality metrics and impact measurement into existing systems to improve effectiveness and data tracking. Agencies included the Human Resources Agency, the Department of Youth and Community Development, Workforce 1, and the Center for Youth Employment at the Mayor’s Fund
  • Coordinated the Good Jobs and Wealth Creation Initiative, a Bronx-based small business program offered through collaboration between the Bronx Community Development Initiative and Business Outreach Center Network
