Jack in the Box was my first job as a teenager, I was here for a little over 1 year. I did about every position at jack in the box and worked both morning/opening shift and overnight/closing shifts, Jack never closed this task was difficult. I started off working the drive through which consisted of handing money and providing the customer with a service. I was fortunate enough to learn the grill, fryers and prep which are all the position at Jack in the Box. This job showed me how to multitask efficiently and how to relieve any stress my other coworkers felt. I was always there to help anyone on anything they needed weather that was recounting the cash registers money, helping solve an issue with the customer or customers orders, jumping in to help the fryer or grill to help get the orders out in a timely manner or even volunteering to go outside to take orders due to there being a long line. As an opener I would get a fresh drawer, restock all my items that night shift might have forgotten not only for myself but for fry and grill. Later on I became their Preper meaning I would prepare all the ingredients including cutting and washing the veggies by following the food guidelines, preparing any proportional toppings or sauces, preparing the salads and making sure to follow first in first out. I would also prepare the ice coffees and make sure the bathrooms and dishes were done by the end of my shift.
I was able to get a head start and an instant promotion due to my past experience, I started off as a Carside to go/Expo associate. This was a two person job, one in the front greeting and taking customer orders as well as taking their orders to their vehicles. The one in the back would serve as an expo, we would prepare the plates for inside customers and carside to go. The restaurant was understaffed and I was doing both positions, front and back. This prepared me for any problems or stress I may come by across at future jobs. I was able to develop leadership skills and time management skills. I became a perfectionist about every little detail from cleaning to dishing the plates. At the end of each shift I would calculate any extra money that wasn't supposed to be in the cash register by going over our sales for the night and determine which portion were my tips and what belonged to the restaurant. I was able to dabble in bartending for a short period of time when the bartender was extremely busy, I would go and make my customers drinks. Before my departure with Applebees I was given the privilege to serve tables along with my normal duties. This allowed me to connect one on one with the customers and allowed me to have regulars.
My time as a problem solver I would assist associates with issues on the lines and respond to defects on the floor regularly and ensure no goods were damaged. Now that I'm a Process Guide for Trans IN, CRETS, Sortables and Trans OUT I handled all delegated tasks, including my old duties as a PS and Direct Engagement with Leadership and Process Assistants to accomplish maximum workflow, daily production goals and ensure we are following SOP/ standard work while maintaining customer satisfaction. I continue to support and encourage team members to communicate more openly and efficiently. In addition, I coach and develop associate's when they fall behind on safety, productivity, and quality standards, this means engaging with associates through feedback (dires) whether that being positive or negative. I act as an associate resource which has led me to develop other associates into indirect roles by teaching and coaching them. I'm constantly providing support to inbound PAs and Area managers when needed. I step up to run the shift when my PA isn't present, this includes Handoff, reporting attendance, tracking labor hours, and ensuring a successful shift performance. My new role as a learning ambassador I represent the company, I am the first person any new hired or internal transfers see before starting their new role. I am able to provide clear, precise hands on training for the associates. I still continue to run several departments on my own while maintaining my second role as learning ambassador. Since then i have been able to develop and form three new successful teams in order to run all four of my departments smoothly and efficiently.
