Work History

In-N-Out Associate

  • At In-N-Out, I worked mostly at the front register but also did restocking/cleaning
  • The job mainly consisted of taking people's orders, customer service, knowing how to operate their computer systems (for gift cards, T-shirts, refunds, etc.), and cleaning the dining room and kitchen
  • In-N-Out was very uptight (in a good way) about customer service, and hammered into us good habits such as: always greeting customers with a smile and asking how they are, using a polite but not excessively formal tone, and going above and beyond to assist the customer
  • It also got me used to long, tiring hours of standing, as well as developing the ability to maintain the required friendliness and patience even while exhausted.

Treasurer at Youth Organization

  • BBYO is a Jewish youth organization that provides teenagers with the opportunity to plan their own events meaningful experiences with other Jewish teens that are completely teen-led
  • There are various regions throughout the world, and I was the treasurer for my respective chapter
  • This was a seasonal position in which I was in charge of balancing checks, managing expenses, and raising funds for my respective region
  • I planned and executed fundraising events such as movie nights, garage sales, and Egg Begs
  • Egg Begs are a form of door-to-door fundraising in which you offer the homeowner to smash an egg on your head in exchange for a donation
  • These events significantly improved my confidence with strangers and made me an overall extroverted individual
  • The other responsibilities improved my accounting and information system skills as well
  • Managing the younger members was a large responsibility of event planning, as they are often quite rowdy and in need of supervision
  • I was in charge of organizing and calming the younger members for the events that I planned, as well as many times arranging rides for those who cannot drive or be driven themselves.

Newspaper editor-in-chief for Government Program

  • American Legion Auxiliary California Boys State is a highly selective seasonal educational program of government instruction for high school students in the U.S
  • It is a program in which participants work closely with local, county, and state governments to train in government infrastructure and systems, as well as learn useful leadership skills
  • I was the Editor-in-Chief of my sects Newspaper and was responsible for leading and mediating with the other members of the press, as well as deciding what makes it into the paper and what does not
  • This position taught me extremely valuable lessons in collaboration and compromise skills I use in my day-to-day life as well as the position
  • I regularly led and organized groups of students in the development of newspaper articles, and have become quite comfortable in leadership positions as a result.
