The series of film photos I'm submitting has been stored away for 30 years and I want to finally get them out to be seen. The Tibetan region has been transformed drastically and the culture slowly destroyed - like so many other cultures on the planet. I knew when I shot these the culture was disappearing.
Strong Portfolio
Visual storytelling
I am a professional photographer with 20 years experience shooting commissioned, commercial and client projects. Also, many personal portfolio projects including street photography, lifestyle and travel subjects. My latest work involves composite fine art images as abstract pieces.
This series of photos was shot in Tibet in 1995 on a 1980s Canon AE-1 film camera with one 50mm lens. That’s all I could carry at the time. The first day in Kathmandu, for some reason the shutter stopped working, and with some forced effort, rotated the lens to take it off, and a small piece of metal fell out of the camera, by the way, I never did find and had no idea what it was. But the camera worked fall asleep and still does to this day. I only had room for about 14 rolls of film total - TMax 100 and Fuji Velvia.
