Ruben De La Calle

• Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and contractors on a range of environmental site assessment and geotechnical construction projects on-site and in the laboratory
• Assist in soil sampling and data collection
• Conduct field/subsurface exploration and observation for projects including data analysis and technical writing

• Observe geotechnical exploration, conduct site visits, collect field samples, monitor construction for compliance, and prepare daily field reports
• Conduct and assist in routine laboratory testing and analyses

Lab Instructor ESS 101 (Introduction to Geology)

• Instruct 80-100 students in-person and remotely each quarter while delivering hands-on presentations and tutoring sessions to complement course concepts and explain course requirements.
• Teach geologic fundamentals and improve classroom teaching method by observing fellow educators and learning new techniques

Teaching Assistant ESS 420 (Intro to GIS)

• Assist Dr. Stephen Walters in teaching an introductory course in Geographic Information Systems with emphasis on the earth sciences
• Helped develop weekly labs, grade weekly assignments, and advise students in the completion of lab assignments and the final project.

• Monitor field explorations and projects under the guidance of engineers and scientists while documenting field conditions and completing field reports
