Automotive Technician

  • Troubleshooting:

1.) Electrical: I am able to find and fix any simple to complex electrical problem by performing any of the following voltage test, voltage drop test, short to power test, short to ground test, resistance test, and continuity test. I am experienced and able to solder damaged wire/wires. I am also able to read and understand electical wiring diagram.

2.) Suspension: I am professionally qualified in finding and fixing any noise, vibration, pulling or wobble concern by performing a thorough inspection of strut/shock components, lower control arm bushings, upper control arm bushings, and stabilizer links. I inspect tires for any signs of wear to correct possible vibration/ pulling/ wobble concern. I effectively perform wheel runout tests and tire balance tests to correct any vibration concern while driving.

3.) Brake/ABS: I find and fix any shudder or vibration, squealing or howling, dragging, soft pedals, and hard pedal concern. I am able to bleed brake lines and ABS unit alone. I am skillful when it comes to replacing front brake pads and resurfacing rotors as normal service. I can replace rear drum pads and replace a drum kit if necessary, as well as replacing rear brake pads and resurfacing rotors.

4.) Drivetrain: I am able to find and fix any clunking noise, turning issues, shutters when accelerating, clicking noise when turning, vibrations from underneath vehicle and when the vehicle is unable to move. Also, I can replace differential fluid or repairing if needed.

5.) Steering: I find and fix any hard steering, excessive play, steering jimmy, grinding noises, squeaking noises, and fluid leaks. I am able to bleed power steering system. I can perform front wheel alignment and four-wheel alignment.

6.) A/C System: I am able to find and fix any problems regarding a/c concern. Able to read and understand gauges without a machine connected to the vehicle. I am able to add dye to system and find leaks using UV light, leak detector, or good old fashion water and soap. I can remove the dashboard to access heater core unit and repair/replace. I repair compressor clutch as well as understand how the system works.

7.) Transmissions: I am able to find and fix any shift delays, slipping, gears not engaging, fluid leaks, abnormal noise, and unusual smell. Also, I can understand any DTC's codes TCM sets and accurately diagnose them using live data, DVOM, and visual inspection. Also, I can perform overhauling procedures to the transmission.

8.) Engine: I am able to find and fix any oil leaks, coolant leaks, overheating, abnormal noises, no crank, cranks but does not start, stalling, smoking, oil consumptions, running rough, rough idle, etc. issues. I can perform the following compression tests, leak down test, block check, coolant system pressure test, fuel pressure test, vacuum test, and smoke test on vehicle. I am able to understand any dtc's codes ECM/PCM sets and accurately diagnose them using live data, DVOM, and visual inspecion. I can overhaul an engine which could consist of replacing timing belt, water pump, valves, adjusting valves, head gaskets, oil pump, cams/cam shafts/ pistons, crank shaft, and bearings. I can also R&R long block if needed.

Team Leader:

As a team leader I supervise and inspect the work of others including new employees, help my fellow co-workers when they get stuck on a job or cannot diagnose a vehicle, maintain a clean and safe workplace, keep up with co-workers training, keep up with the equipment in the shop and if any repairs should be needed, inform the service manager of the situation and speak with the customer to explain repair or to inform them of diagnostic. Be able to provide a detailed paperwork of repairs that has been done or provide a detailed assessment of what needs to be done to perform repair.

  • OSHA Requirements:

Another duty of being a team leader is understanding OSHA requirements; by making sure my coworkers and myself included be wearing the correct PPE when performing certain duties. As for example wearing ear plugs, face masks, and etc. Knowing how to dispose of certain chemicals like fuel, oil, coolant, and etc. Making sure fire extinguishers are up to date and strong chemicals in safe location.
