Work History

Data Analytics Architect

John Deere Kernersville
Kernersville, USA
04.2022 - Current
  • Major Purpose Identifies opportunities and defines a potential solution concept for value creation using analytics. Connects business leaders, analytics professionals, and IT to deliver value to the business. I work across several departments, units, or sub-functions for idea generation and/or execution primarily within the US / Canada / Brazil. Projects are large; execution requires support from 3 - 5 areas, e.g., Analytics professionals, IT tools group, data architecture, data governance, processes/data quality). Spends a balanced amount of time clarifying the business problem, generating insights, and managing the execution of use cases. I supervise up to 5 direct reports.

Project work

  • Strategic & Tactical Supply Mgmt. Dashboard

1. Buyers have historically been required to pull daily reports to evaluate material coverage to support daily production needs. This is a gross simplification of the different reports needed, and the various SAP reports that contained different pieces of key information required to get a holistic view of production coverage, but the team spent a lot of time simply pulling together data to do their jobs effectively, and there was an opportunity for error. In addition, different reports were needed to evaluate phase-out material to prevent unneeded obsolescence at the factory, which made it very challenging to balance production needs while minimizing phase-out obsolescence.

2. My team worked to automate and streamline this critical data through Hana tables that are now published and refreshed in Power BI. Taking the “data pulling” task off of buyer’s and planners’ plates allows them to spend more time ensuring we have production coverage and prevents errors that were possible when individuals were required to pull their data.

3. The supply base dashboard provides vastly improved visibility to past due PO’s, stockout data, forecasted obsolescence, and supplier performance that previously took hours to produce. The total hours saved per week across the SM team in pulling data is tremendous, but more importantly preventing errors and giving the tactical team improved visibility to the key “big rock” metrics that allow them to keep production running.

Hours saved by buyers per week = 98.5; multiply by 50 work weeks = 4925 hours

Assuming $100 / hour = $492.5K savings

- This is visible with elimination of resource ask for +2 contingents and enabling buyers to work on other projects

Dynamic Sequencing Project (MTS & MTO Factories)

Problem Statement

  • Primary focus on providing real-time alerts on Material availability of the variants lined up based on the Production plan by the Master scheduler. The project will serve as a Foundational capability for SCF (Smart connected factory) initiative in India
  • The current process is completely manual and is done on spreadsheets. 98% of the materials of the vehicle factory are procured externally. In case of any shortages encountered on the Engine & Transmission line which feeds the vehicle assembly line, the entire plan has to be updated & communicated to all stakeholders.
  • At least 2-3 hours of manpower is lost on account of updating the revised plan. Pune factory does not have a frozen lineup schedule and during peak volumes, the schedule might be subjected to a change in less than an hour as well.

Solution

MAI Dynamic Sequencing Tool Enables Production Planner with Real Time Material Availability for individual BMC/Material Variant for all the critical components , on top of it user can access bill of materials for BMC/Material Variant.

  • On the screen user can upload the daily plan into MAI Screen and Check the Material Availability, based on material availability user can change the sequence and publish the information as single source of truth to all the stake holder
  • Engine Factory
  • Transmission Factory
  • Supply Chain Management
  • Based on Daily Sequence Plan, Production supervisor at Vehicle Factory can Launch based on the planning that is available in dashboard.

Complexities associated with Dynamic sequencing Tool

  • Dynamic sequencing is used by OFP planner to know real time material availability for launching products, for that we need BOM data but with existing tables in Hana system we are getting 200 percent BOM data where we need only 100 percent BOM, we faced challenges in bringing 100 percent BOM data ,with our previous experience in SAP, we understood variant configuration from SAP system and able to match characteristics of variant to get 100 percent BOM data. •
  • As Waterloo vehicle factory plans nearly 250+ variants for a day, we faced challenges with performance also, with 100 percent BOM and current stock determination for 250+ variants SAP Hana model itself it is taking 18 - 20 mins, we did performance improvement in phases and in first phase we are able to bring it down to 3 mins and later we brought it down to 1 min and now we are able to get it in 10 to 15 secs.
  • Pune factory do sequence plan based on variants and not based on prod orders but they do launching based on production orders so it has been a challenge for us to bring the backlog(leftover) of yesterday's plan vs launched and show it in today's plan because there is no link exists between production orders and sequence plan, and also latest challenge we are facing is to bring pre-launch items which have been picked up from tomorrow's plan to launch it today.
