Assisted supervising professor in academic literature review and data collection to study the effects of Tides in Binary Star Systems. The data catalogs created from the literature survey were used as input datasets for published research in academic journals.
Developed modules in Python3 for simulations of orbital evolution model developed in C++. The Python modules were used to write a multi-dimensional root-finding algorithm which improved the convergence time of the solutions in comparison to scipy libraries
Designed and developed algorithms in Python3 for Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) techniques to obtain constraints on free parameters in a highly non-linear model. The constraints obtained from the simulations provided knowledge of tidal effects in a domain previously unknown in the scientific literature and are currently published in Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society.
Used Python3 to design and develop modules for sampling techniques to sample random variable vectors from highly correlated, large non-linear multi-dimensional datasets with discrete samples. The modules are actively used in other research projects to sample from datasets with correlated samples and infer the probability distributions for statistical analysis.
Designed and implemented multiple data visualization techniques (matplotlib, JSON) to analyze posterior distributions obtained MCMC simulations. The graphs and plots were used in academic talks and presentations to explain our current understanding of the efficiency of tides in stars and publish new and exciting results.
