As A Journeyman lineman Electrician I performed a variety of duties related to the building and maintenance and repair of electrical systems, including:
Installation: Installing new electrical lines, fiber optics, and cables, as well as electrical light fixtures like light poles and traffic signals.
Other duties include Erecting scaffolding as needed.
Operating boom-canes and equipment and heavy equipment for lifting equipment and material's, light poles.
Building foundations. Operating fork-lifts and back-hoe diggers.
Repair: Locating and fixing breaks in underground electrical lines, and removing and replacing decayed or broken cable
Testing: Performing voltage tests to determine the type of wire and its level of functionality
Relocation: Moving existing electrical installations and fixtures to accommodate site construction projects
Documentation: Preparing work activity reports
Marking: Marking cable locations on streets to prevent damage
Journeyman linemen work outdoors in all weather conditions, often responding to calls at odd hours. Work at heights, lift heavy items, tools and equipment, and be comfortable working in confined spaces.
