Interviewing witnesses, visiting scenes to gather evidence, and analyzing obtained evidence and statements. Utilize electronic devices to receive audio or video recordings of target or witness interviews that have been completed, and evaluate relevant documents and pertinent records to determine the degree of involvement in the case being investigated. Some travel is required to various locations to assist with the investigation of policy violations at a bureau or office where the alleged target works, or where incidents may have occurred. Upon completion, draft a final report outlining all information gathered from evidence, statements, and interviews for review by the Chief of the State Police or the DPS Cabinet Secretary to determine the degree of discipline to be imposed. They may, at times, be assigned to complete other duties. Use of Force subject matter expert and Use of Force instructor.
