SENIOR NETWORK ENGINEER

  • Currently managing 5 design vendors utilizing 30+ team members at varying stages of fielding, initial design and permitting across 10 markets in the Lancaster, PA area.
  • Host weekly meetings with each vendor to capture updates, address questions and concerns and to ensure all focuses are aligned.
  • Keep projects on schedule by managing deadlines and adjusting workflows.
  • Participate in weekly meetings and other communications with stakeholders to continually move priority permits to an approved/ released status, including evaluating financial feasibility.
  • Establish and foster relationships with local township, borough and city officials to reach franchise agreements and to ensure their service needs, as well as post-construction restoration expectations are met. Along with establishing the process for submitting land-use permits and payment.
  • Permitting – Currently tracking over 2,000 permits which includes pole owners, land-use and third-parties that are attached. Entities interacted with regularly include power companies, Verizon, local municipalities, Penn. DOT and other telecom companies.
  • Attend weekly team meetings with Senior Management and Department Director to provide high-level updates for each market.
  • Design – Evaluate designs for feasibility, involving projected cost and construction concerns and that they are within areas where we have proper easement/Right-of-Way to complete construction, or that we have agreements with the pole owners to attach.
  • My market’s current footprint is ~72,000 subscribers, dispersed throughout 400+ projects, with a model of 517 miles of aerial plant, and 314 miles of underground plant, with a projected cost of ~$82,000,000.00.
  • Regularly manage, update and organize project and permit Smartsheets per vendor.
  • Update all project information in Sitetracker (Salesforce platform) along with uploading all deliverables from each design vendor.
  • Drive each individual task with appropriate vendor or internal department to ensure forecasted milestone completion dates are met.
  • Review and approve invoices from design vendors, ensure they are billing against proper allocation for job depending on which milestone they’re currently at.
  • Coordinate and attend walkouts with stakeholders to address concerns.
  • Capture and address any items that have been escalated, address if possible, escalate appropriately if necessary.
  • Establish and monitor key performance metrics to verify consistent compliance with important networking standards.

PROJECT COORDINATOR

  • Analyze assigned projects for XNET, Tier 3 Node Splits and Genesis. Evaluate accompanying coax and fiber designs, use prior experience to forecast labor and material needs from project inception to completion.
  • Draft and submit a costing estimate based on the forecast, considering both production line items as well as man hours needed to complete assigned projects.
  • Track assigned projects through major milestones such as estimate submission, fiber readiness, survey and walkout completion along with review, node upgrade and accompanying active/passive splicing and final invoice creation and submission.
  • Reconcile actual efforts, materials, and manhours versus the initial estimate to create and submit an accurate invoice to the customer.
  • Attend meetings as needed even with little notice, as well as all assigned daily/weekly meetings with the customer or internal entities.
  • Coordinate access, whether it be with MDUs, commercial buildings, or government spaces, including military bases.
  • Be a reference for all fiber and coaxial troubleshooting needs by field personnel.
  • Compare surveys/walkouts with designs to capture discrepancies so that they may be addressed in a timely manner and redesigned as needed so that target activation dates would be met.
  • When “on-the-fly” changes were needed, evaluate technical specs and offer the most feasible solution during the maintenance window in order to finish within the allotted timeframe.
  • Draft pre and post activation field views of equipment for field personnel to reference to ensure accuracy and quality of work.
  • Create and instate new procedures for capturing more information from field personnel to streamline timekeeping and invoicing practices.
  • Create as-builts and “redlines” to submit to the customer so that their system prints could be kept up to date.
  • Monitor internal Smartsheets, add newly assigned projects, organize and maintain their integrity with 30+ editors involved daily.
  • Update P2 (Salesforce Platform) with all relevant chatter to each job and complete each milestone update for all tasks assigned to Velocity.

Fiber and Coax Splicer

  • FIBER SPLICING RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Be able to install new fiber enclosures and perform necessary splicing in accordance with industry standards.
  • Perform mid-sheath entries (ring cuts) when called for by design
  • Install and splice new DWDM architecture or splice to existing field mux depending upon design.
  • Troubleshoot field issues in conjunction with Head End support when needed.
  • Perform assigned New Build and Node Split Work from Comcast Coordinators.
  • Maintain a friendly and professional relationship with Comcast and other contractors in order to promote a healthy and productive working environment.
  • Splice Fiber feeding New Build equipment such as RFOG Vhubs and N+0 Nodes.
  • Perform Cable/Splice Audits as needed and document all splicing and audits.
  • COAX SPLICING RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Complete Activation and Troubleshooting of Node Split equipment. Power, and rebalance first outs according to Comcast Design and Spec.
  • Complete Activation and Troubleshooting of New Build equipment including RFOGs and N+0 builds.
  • Complete Surveys of upcoming Node Splits including Tone and Tag from First outs back to Node.
  • Perform walkouts of areas missing designs on an as-requested basis.
  • Optimize Nodes for upcoming node splits.
  • Utilize Watchtower in order to expedite the troubleshooting process.
  • Troubleshoot RF and powering issues as they arose.
  • Work with Comcast Coordinators to make sure their needs were met in a timely fashion.

Coax Splicer
