• Operate heavy equipment, including backhoes, excavators, front-end loaders, dump trucks (10 and 5 yard), and street sweepers.
• Perform excavation and grading for sidewalks, curb and gutter, asphalt patches, trenches for water/sewer utilities, and other site work.
• Install and repair water mains, water services, fire hydrants, pressure relief valves, and blow-off valves; chlorinate water mains for proper sanitation.
• Handle paving operations using hot mix (paver, push box, or hand work) and apply cold mix for temporary repairs.
• Transport materials safely and efficiently to various job sites.
• Use a wide range of hand tools, including shovels, rakes, hammers, sledgehammers, pickaxes, laser levels, and more.
• Trim trees and brush to maintain roadway visibility and public safety.
• Maintain accurate documentation of materials, equipment usage, and hours worked.
• Hold a pesticide license and spray guardrails, walls, and curb lines to control unwanted vegetation.
• Consistently prioritize safety, quality work, and positive teamwork.

• Operate a wide range of heavy equipment—including excavators, backhoes, dozers, loaders, paddlewheel scrapers, push cans, articulating haul trucks, street sweepers, and water trucks—in a safe and efficient manner.
• Perform excavation for storm, sewer, and water mains/services, including installation of setters and water boxes, with strong knowledge of shoring, stepping, and trench safety.
• Read, interpret, and adapt to changes in blueprints, site plans, staking, elevations, offsets, cuts, and fills.
• Conduct fine-to-mass grading for slopes, roads, lots, sidewalks, and swales using various equipment sizes.
• Install fire hydrants to proper grade and ensure functional performance.
• Utilize GPS systems, lasers, and computer-assisted tools for grade checking, layout, and project execution.
• Locate, expose, and test existing utilities to ensure safe operation and prevent conflicts during excavation.
• Install and repair irrigation systems, including sprinkler heads and irrigation lines.
• Perform earthwork tasks such as digging joint trenches, building and backfilling walls, creating stockpiles, loading trucks, and executing push-to-fill operations.
• Maintain clean, organized, and hazard-free job sites with consistent use of PPE and adherence to safety protocols.
• Carry out routine maintenance on tools and heavy equipment to ensure reliability and extend service life.
• Use hand and power tools—including shovels, power saws, drills, and trash pumps—for excavation support and general construction tasks.
• Coordinate work activities with multiple contractors on active job sites to ensure smooth project flow.
• Document daily activities, completed work, upcoming tasks, and all equipment/tools/materials used.

• Work safely with team members to complete projects efficiently and correctly, following all safety standards and procedures.
• Troubleshoot equipment and tool issues on site when possible and immediately report major problems to supervisors.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on machinery to ensure longevity, reliability, and proper operation.
• Operate catch basin cleaning trucks, street sweepers, excavators, and backhoes to dig/backfill trenches, load trucks, and install or repair water services and water mains, including emergency repairs, with strong knowledge of shoring and trench safety.
• Operate front-end loaders to stack materials, load trucks, maintain compost areas, and support landfill and road grading tasks.
• Use D8 dozers and other heavy equipment for grading roads, landfill operations, and large-scale earthwork.
• Conduct catch basin and manhole repairs, ensuring proper drainage flow and system functionality.
• Perform road and shoulder repair, including paving new roads, filling potholes, line painting, and curb repair using concrete.
• Trim highway overgrowth with PTO-driven tractors and maintain rights-of-way and public pathways throughout the city.
• Install and maintain water mains, sewer mains, retention ponds, and perform on-call emergency repairs when needed.
• Operate and maintain various city vehicles, ensuring daily fueling, documenting issues, and reporting to supervisors.
• Use tractors with beach-cleaning attachments to maintain multiple public beaches year-round, including weekends.
• Perform flagging duties and set up cones, signage, and traffic control devices (candlesticks) to maintain safe work zones in high-traffic areas.
• Plow snow and salt roads during winter to ensure safe driving conditions for the public.
• Log daily work activities, tools used, and equipment operation through an iPad reporting system.
• Conduct weekly equipment and tool inspections to verify safe, proper operation and identify maintenance needs.
