FAO II

04.2024 - Current
  • Demonstrated the ability to competently operate an Aerial during AOPL and on the job now.
  • Took and passed my class E license
  • Spent 6 days at GPSTC taking Rescue Systems and learning the minimum skill requirement to be on a truck company
  • Took PFRs Tiller Class, learning how to successfully drive, operate, and communicate with my teammate.
  • I also completed my Aerial Driver/Operator task book.
  • Am looking to obtain my Rope Tech level 1 and 2 before the end of the year

FAO 1

  • Started driving Full-Time in June of 2023
  • Spent many days learning E601 and being tested on all equipment we have on that apparatus by at the time AOIC Willis
  • Learned calculations and friction loss equations that applied to my current position before taking NPQ AOPP
  • Completed my Pumper Driver/Operator and Mobile Water Supply task books
  • Acquired a class E license instead of the minimum class F
  • Completed PFRs drivers course successfully
  • Took and passed the written streets test, missing only 1 question according to Deputy Chief Cribbs

  • Spent time on 3 different Engine companies learning from and working with many different people
  • During this time I acquired many more skills and learned to view the job differently thanks to my Officers and Drivers over the years.
  • Became more proficient at engine company operations during this time
  • Completed both Due Regard and Principles of Building Construction online courses in accordance with the Firefighter matrix
  • Completed both Handling Flammable/Combustible Liquids and Pressurized Container Fire Control
  • The beginning of my step up to help instruct came when I completed Fire Life Safety Educator, which set me up do more in the future.
  • Took the state level Structural Fire Control class, however we are taught to a higher standard with Pooler Fire-Rescue

Probationary Firefighter

During this pivotal time in my life I joined Pooler Fire-Rescue in hopes of becoming something more and following in my fathers footsteps as a fireman.

Over the 26 week recruit school I was part of I learned the skills and knowledge necessary to become an entry level Firefighter/EMT. It was one of the most brutal yet rewarding times of my life that has to my current success within the department. All aquired certs will be listed in the education area below.
