As a doctoral candidate, NIJ LEADS Scholar, and law enforcement executive, I have cultivated a combination of operational, research, and project management experience rooted in evidence-based, empirically sound solutions. My current efforts are focused on needs-based technical assistance and streamlining complex policing concepts into strategy, policy, training, and analytical products that support collaborative public safety initiatives.
Provide overall leadership of the Evidence-based Training and Innovation Section, which includes supervising the development of the unit’s training, technical assistance, research, and analytical products.
• Coordinate and manage interagency projects relating to the Gun Involved Violence Elimination (GIVE) initiative or other evidence-based initiatives in the unit’s purview.
• Develop and update assessment and analytical tools to assist local jurisdictions with evidence-based policing strategies implementation performance.
• Manage the development of innovative, evidence-based training curriculum for law enforcement.
• Develop and support new research projects and innovations in the field.
• Monitor local crime trends and conduct inquiries on behalf of the Governor’s Office and DCJS regarding assigned jurisdictions.
• Promote all the Governor’s criminal justice initiatives, along with the services of DCJS, to local law enforcement and prosecutorial agencies.
Police Executive Leadership Program
Responsible for hands-on strategic counsel to New York State law enforcement agencies focusing on evidence-based policing practices, community trust building, and implementing reform and reinvention collaboratives
This role included the design of portfolio-specific collaborative violence prevention projects tailored to local culture, legislation, and priorities, fostering peer learning partnerships across agencies, and building the technical capacity of local stakeholders to implement, measure, and sustain strategies along with management of corresponding research projects statewide.
Provided direct oversight to the training, operations, and emergency management divisions of the University Police at SUNY Dutchess. Served as the departmental accreditation administrator responsible for policy and data management via Lexipol Data Management Systems and Omnigo Computer-Aided Dispatch, and ACADIS training software.
Served as highest ranking sworn member of department with operation oversight over 75 Public Safety and civilian staff and a $2.5 million operational budget
Evidence-Based Policing Programming, Responsible for literature review, instruction, and curriculum development for state-sponsored violence reduction, problem analysis, and organizational development training
Topics included: Hot Spots Policing, Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design, Focused Deterrence, Procedural Justice, Implicit Bias, Street Outreach, and Problem Oriented Policing.
Supervised 85 law enforcement and 20 civilian staff at the largest college in the City University system. Structured operational plans, managed the daily crime database, and conducted professional development training. Organized two Community Outreach Units: the Academy of Leadership and Service and the Community Emergency Response Team
Assistant Coordinator- Residential Safety Program
•Responsible for operational supervision of 75 civilian campus safety support staff that conducted patrol, dispatch, access control, CCTV surveillance, student escort, fire safety, event management, and emergency management support services.
