During the fall of my sophomore year, I had the opportunity to accumulate 25 hours of observation under the guidance of various licensed speech-language pathologists. Throughout this experience, I was exposed to a diverse range of therapy sessions, including those focused on articulation, language, voice, and diagnostic procedures. This hands-on exposure provided valuable insights into the practical application of speech-language pathology and deepened my understanding of the field.
In my clinical experiences, I had the opportunity to work with children aged 3-4 at a preschool for part of a semester. The majority of the children I provided therapy for struggled with language difficulties, both expressive and receptive, as well as articulation challenges. My responsibilities included maintaining thorough therapy records, developing comprehensive lesson plans, managing Medicaid information, creating and implementing Treatment Objective Documents (TOD), and compiling detailed progress reports for their Individualized Education Programs (IEP).
