Dear HR/Hiring manager My name is Ryan Sage and I am extremely exited about applying for this job. I feel i would be a great fit and asset to this department with my experience and drive to be good at what i do. I've only had four jobs since graduating high school in 1997. I started my working career as a meat wrapper with some costumer service mixed in taking and filling orders. I quickly moved up to butcher by letting my boss know both verbally and by showing up early and staying late to learn more. I was there for 6 plus years until I applied for a Job at Nippon Paper and received the job offer doubling my income so I took it. This is where i worked until 2017 when the mill was closed. I've done a variety of jobs there but mostly in the production department. I worked up the progression latter for 9 years until they shut down one of our paper machines. So instead of starting over in that department I transferred to the lab department where I did all the waste water testing. I worked there for about 6 months until they downsized the department and since I was the least senior I was forced back to my original department and was there until the mill closed. I then went to coca cola until the mill reopened in 2019 and i was one of only 8 returning employees in the production department to get hired back. I helped train all the new hires on how to run a paper machine for the first year and then helped start both paper machines back up. I then got an electrician apprenticeship which i did for about a year until the production manager recruited me to be a shift supervisor.
I was 1 of 8 people hired back in the production department. For the first year i was essentially the department trainer where i taught all the new hires all operating systems of the paper machines and how to use all equipment for each job. Which includes using our new DeltaV (DCS) system, Cranes, Forklifts, and many more. After helping getting both paper machines running i was offered an Electrician apprenticeship in the E&I department which i did for about a year. Then the Production Manager offered me a shift supervisor position that I excepted. While in this role i was in charge of the whole mill when on shift i would coordinate with all departments to ensure the mill ran as efficient as possible. If something was broke i would work with maintenance and E&I to fix and work with department Managers. I was also involved with writing JHAs for the production departments because safety was a huge issue and I take safety seriously.
