Duties include bagging groceries, helping customers, retrieving baskets, stock, and load company trucks. While bagging groceries I had to ensure I was acknowledging the customer by engaging in light conversation as well as keeping up with the cashiers pace. I also had to make sure I was bagging like items in the same bag. Bagging included lifting over 35 pound items into the basket, bending, squatting and standing for long periods at a time. When retrieving baskets I had to stand for six to eight hours and push over 200 pounds at a time. I pushed baskets in an orderly fashion by splitting up the parking lot in sections to ensure I was keeping a fast pace. I pushed baskets outside in areas that were hot, damp, cold, drafty, and poorly lighted. This kind of work endedured cuts, scrapes, bruises, muscle strain, noise, abrasions, falls, and injury from the hot metal baskets. I often was asked to help restock items on the shelves. In doing so I had to pull pallets which could weigh from 200 pounds to 1000 pounds depending on the size of the pallet. I was required to bend, squat, and lift over 35 pounds above my head.
